PS5 Software Update Will Provide VRR Features

PlayStation 5 PS5

Sony confirmed that the PS5 game console will be equipped with a visual Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) feature. This feature will be active in the aftermath of future online system software updates.
Reported by Techradar, this information is known from the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on the official PlayStation website. Sony explained that the PS5 hardware supports VRR over HDMI 2.1.

“After a future system software update, PS5 owners will be able to use the VRR features of compatible TVs when playing VRR-enabled games,” Sony quoted a caption.

VRR is a feature that is quite desired by users. Especially on consoles with high-quality frame rates, considering that VRR allows the television to adjust the refresh rate directly.

In addition, the benefit of VRR is that it can eliminate moving images that are choppy and disconnected. That way the image will move more smoothly when played by the user.

However, Sony has not said for sure when the software update will enable the VRR feature. However, they also don’t want to wait too long for updates.

When active, VRR requires a compatible television to support these features optimally. Even the games being played must be compatible to support VRR.
